Gravitation and Cosmology Research Group
School of Mathematical and Physical Sciences – The University of Sheffield
Our research group is interested in the properties of black holes and gravitational waves. We also investigate the behaviour of quantum fields in curved spacetimes and develop and test models of the very early (inflation, quantum cosmology) and the late universe (dark energy, modified gravity).

For more detailed information about our research, look at the individual web pages of the members in our group. See also here for a recent overview of our research, presented to PhD students in the School of Mathematics and Statistics.
We are part of the Consortium for Fundamental Physics (jointly with Lancaster University) and are funded in part by STFC and the Royal Society.
We hosted the STFC-funded BUSSTEPP summer school in theoretical particle physics in August/September 2024.
In September 2020 we hosted the first (and so far only) Virtual UK Cosmo meeting which brought together the UK cosmology community in a virtual setting.
